Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre partnership that challenges conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Revealed
According to the official announcement, "An unusual meeting leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where hints of banned ceremonies and terrifying changes resonate through the obscurity." The plot features a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a secret sect.
The mission concentrates on "strange tests and a monstrous adversary" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses
The teaser showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser ends with a powerful scene showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Extra Features
Players who finish the quest will receive an special katana in addition to several objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Content
This update also introduces the game's third complimentary story addition, titled "The Enigma." This playful adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic abilities: Naoe debuts a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Japanese Animation Partnerships
This represents scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime properties. The series formerly featured a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that obviously nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
